ST LOUIS (AP) — Peabody Energy Corp. (BTU) on Thursday reported a loss of $518 million in its fourth quarter.
On a per-share basis, the St. Louis-based company said it had a loss of $28.43. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $9.27 per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of $8.89 per share.
The coal miner posted revenue of $1.31 billion in the period, matching Street forecasts.
For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $2.04 billion, or $112.66 per share. Revenue was reported as $5.61 billion.
The company’s shares closed at $3.36. A year ago, they were trading at $112.14.
