Meteorologist McPherson Selected
WASHINGTON (AP) _ Ronald D. McPherson, director of the National Weather Service’s Center for Environmental Prediction, has been selected as the next executive director of the American Meteorological Society.
McPherson, who retired Friday from his government post, will become head of the 12,000-member society of weather researchers and forecasters in January.
The appointment was announced Wednesday by society President Eugene Rasmusson.
McPherson, 59, is a native of Orange, Texas, and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.
