The Diann Shaddox Foundation for Essential Tremor will hold the first Essential Tremor Charity Golf Classic on Monday. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and a shotgun start at 10 a.m. The cost is $100 per player, and includes golf, golf carts, continental breakfast, photos, greens fees, goodie bags, prizes, a raffle and complimentary beer and soda. The Horse Creek Historical Society will hold its first fall meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the parish house of St. Paul Episcopal Church, 117 Hard St. The guest speaker will be Tony Baughman. His topic will be Vaucluse. For more information, call 803-663-9457.

Aiken Women In Black will hold a Vigil for Peace from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Monday on Whiskey Road across from The Fresh Market. These nonpartisan vigils in witness against war and all forms of violence are held on the first and third Monday of every month. All are invited to stand with us at Hitchcock Drive (the entrance to Aiken Estates, in front of Bethlehem Lutheran Church). We have signs, or you may bring your own as long as they are nonpartisan. The 17th annual Mended Hearts Aiken Regional Medical Centers Charity Golf Tournament will be held Monday, Sept. 10, at the Reserve Club at Woodside Plantation, 3000 Reserve Club Drive. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. The tournament is captain’s choice, best ball-format. The cost is $240 per team. The registration deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 4. Storytime in the Gardens begins at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Hopelands Gardens, 135 Dupree Place. Storytime is free and will meet on Tuesdays through Oct. 30. Auditions for Bound to Sing, an all-boys choir, will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Aiken First Baptist Church, 120 Chesterfield St. N. The choir is open to boys in upper-elementary and middle school with unchanged voices. Membership fees are $50 per term, but scholarships and other options are available. The choir performs in a variety of locations throughout the school year. The Aiken Singers will hold rehearsals from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. Tuesday in the choir room of St. John’s United Methodist Church, 157 Chesterfield St. N.
