Dow Jumps 45 in Early Trading
NEW YORK (AP) _ Stock prices are higher in light trading. The Dow Jones industrial average is up 45 points in today’s early going. Gainers on the New York Stock Exchange hold a 6-5 lead over losers.
The Nasdaq Composite Index has gained eight points and the Standard & Poor’s 500 Stock Index is ahead four points.
Analysts expect to see continued volatility in the stock market, with several wild cards affecting the pattern of trading on a daily basis.
Not only are investors studying the ongoing Asian crisis, but they’re also focusing on Russia, where the government was reshuffled over the weekend.
And the domestic uncertainty remains as well, with the controversy surrounding President Clinton, and the government’s decision last week to attack suspected terrorist sites overseas.
