Ex-LSU player could help with NCAA game plan for Wolfpack

March 15, 2015

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Eighth-seeded North Carolina State may get some help with the scouting report on its first NCAA Tournament opponent.

The Wolfpack’s 3-point marksman, Ralston Turner, played his first two seasons for ninth-seeded LSU before transferring. The teams square off Thursday in Pittsburgh.

Coach Mark Gottfried will be leading the Wolfpack (20-13) to the big tournament for the fourth year in a row while the Tigers are back for their 21st trip to the big dance after a five-year respite.

Johnny Jones’ Tigers have four players averaging in double figures, topped by Jarell Martin’s 16.9 points a game.

The Wolfpack is led by the backcourt of All-ACC guard Trevor Lacey, speedy point guard Anthony “Cat” Barber — and Turner.

The winner could draw top-seeded Villanova, which opens against Lafayette.
