Redskins hosting Kenny Britt on visit
The Washington Redskins will host veteran wide receiver Kenny Britt for a visit Monday as they continue to search for an upgrade at the position.
Britt was out of the NFL last season after he was released by the New England Patriots just after training camp. In 2017, the 30-year-old appeared in nine games with the Cleveland Browns and three games with the Patriots, combining for 256 yards on 20 catches.
The news was first reported by The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who points out Britt’s best season came alongside Case Keenum in 2016. Washington, of course, acquired Keenum last month in a trade with the Denver Broncos.
Veteran WR Kenny Britt is headed to visit the #Redskins today, source said. The former #Patriots, #Browns and #Titans WR had his best season with the #Rams... who had Case Keenum as their starter. Keenum obviously is now in Washington. Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 1, 2019
Britt caught 68 passes for 1,002 yards and five touchdowns in 2016 with the Los Angeles Rams.
Last week at the NFL owners meetings in Phoenix, Redskins coach Jay Gruden said the team still needed to add at wide receiver.
“Receiver group, we need more bodies for sure,” Gruden said. “I think we need more bodies, talent. Of course. Anytime you add a body you want them to be talented. ... We’re not just going to sign [anybody] for a body. So we’re going to sign more talented bodies.”
