May 9, 2019

MT. PLEASANT — An acknowledged leader in the field of education, Wasatch Academy (WA) has been recognized once again as a “Best of State” in Utah, making this the tenth consecutive year to receive such honors, 2010-19.

WA received two distinguished awards this year: one for the equestrian sports program and the other for the teacher training initiative spearheaded by Dr. J. Dianne Brederson, assistant head of school for academics.

The teacher training award honors Dr. Brederson as a brilliant expert in pedagogy and a proven leader in the educational field who answers to the challenge of guiding educators at Wasatch Academy in teacher training and who succeeds in awakening in them a true passion for teaching and learning.

In her many years of leading graduate studies in education throughout the country, Brederson was a top-ranked professor highly esteemed by students and colleagues alike, seemingly effortlessly outpacing her peers in teaching the most challenging courses in advanced pedagogy to undergraduates and graduate students seeking professional certification in the field.

“At Wasatch Academy, we see ourselves as leaders in the educational community — constantly pushing education forward by trying innovative approaches,” states WA Curriculum Manager Emma Chiappetta, “We would not be able to achieve these goals without the experience, knowledge, guidance, and leadership of Dr. J. Dianne Brederson.”

“Over the past two years, Brederson has designed and implemented one of the most comprehensive and intense professional development programs that Wasatch Academy has ever seen,” says Chiappetta, “I feel like I have the opportunity to attend graduate school for teaching right here on my own campus.”

These prestigious awards celebrate and demonstrate the dedication of Wasatch Academy to being an institution of excellence. An institution dedicated and designed with the student, teacher, and staff in mind.
