TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ Led by Amy Geren, who had a season-high 16 points, Clemson held Florida State scoreless for the final 8:37 of the first half and for a span of 6:24 late in the second half to defeat the Lady Seminoles 71-47 Wednesday.

Clemson (17-8 overall, 8-7 ACC) fell behind 20-12, then scored the last 14 points of the first half for a 26-20 lead.

``We went to our 3-2 zone at the end of the first half and I think that helped a lot,″ said Clemson coach Jim Davis. ``And we didn’t give up a lot of second-chance baskets.″

Sophomore guard Itoro Umoh scored 13 points for the Lady Tigers, who outrebounded FSU 59-33, while junior forward Jeanette Davis and senior center Jaci Stimson had nine points each.

Sophomore guard Jen Robinson paced Florida State with 15 points and freshman forward Latavia Coleman had 11 rebounds along with six points on 3 of 13 shooting.

Florida State went on an 8-1 run midway through the first half to take an 18-11 lead with 10:11 remaining. Moorefield triggered the run with a layup, then Robinson and Penn hit back-to-back 3-pointers for the Lady Seminoles.

A jumper by Coleman gave FSU a 20-12 lead with 8:38 remaining, but Clemson closed the half with its 14-0 run, Cottrell leading the way with five points.
