UNDATED AP) — The Braves and Dodgers open their NLDS in Los Angeles tonight. The Dodgers are starting Hyun-Jin Ryu in Game 1. Mike Foltynewicz (fohl-tih-NAY’-vihch) takes the ball for the Braves. Now underway in Milwaukee, the Brewers are hosting the Colorado Rockies. Brandon Woodruff is on the mound for Milwaukee. Colorado has countered with Antonio Senzatela.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Injured shortstop Dansby Swanson will not be on the Atlanta Braves’ roster for the National League Division Series. His replacement is Charlie Culberson, who helped the Dodgers get to the World Series last year. Swanson tore a ligament in his left hand against the New York Mets in the next-to-last series of the regular season. He’s one of Atlanta’s top defensive players. He was hitting .238, with 14 home runs and 59 RBIs.

UNDATED (AP) — Three Cuban prospects, including top international free-agent Victor Victor Mesa, will try out for major league scouts on Friday at Marlins Park. Also participating will be Mesa’s brother, Victor Mesa Jr., and pitcher Sandy Gaston. All teams are invited to attend. The Mesas, both outfielders, were recently declared free agents by Major League Baseball and can be signed by any team.

NEW YORK (AP) — Pulitzer Prize-winning sports columnist Dave Anderson of The New York Times has died at 89. The paper says he died today an assisted living facility in Cresskill, New Jersey. Anderson worked at the Times from 1966 to 2007. He wrote elegant, descriptive commentary, displaying a wealth of expertise in baseball, the NFL, boxing and golf. Anderson wrote 21 books and received the 1994 Red Smith Award from the Associated Press.

LONDON (AP) — Nike has told The Associated Press that it’s “deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations” facing soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo. The emailed statement today from the media department for the U.S. sportswear firm follows the filing of a lawsuit in Las Vegas by a woman who alleges that she was raped by Ronaldo in 2009. Ronaldo has denied the claims.
