HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Rich Harris, correspondent in charge of the Sacramento bureau of The Associated Press since 1996, has been named news editor in Hartford.

The appointment was announced Monday by Hartford Chief of Bureau Keith Robinson.

Harris joined the AP in Little Rock in 1987. He also worked in Nashville and Columbus before being named correspondent in Cleveland in 1991.

Harris, 34, was born in Radford, Va., and is a graduate of Kansas State University. He succeeds Larry Rosenthal, who resigned to work for the Camden, N.J., Courier-Post.
