GUATEMALA CITY (AP) _ A mudslide triggered by torrential rains swept through a town in northern Guatemala, killing 13 people and injuring 24 others, Defense Minister Juan Estrada said Wednesday.

The slide on Tuesday buried 21 homes in Senahu, about 75 miles northeast of Guatemala City.

Authorities called off the search for more victims Wednesday, saying everyone had been accounted for.

Estrada said officials won't know the extent of the damage for at least a week, and their efforts Wednesday were cut short by another bout of torrential rains.

``Any further digging and clean-up might have caused further mud slides,'' he said.

Rescue workers said the slide left Senahu without drinkable water and with almost no food, but that government supply trucks dispatched Wednesday morning had trouble reaching the area because of impassable roads.
