CHARLES JIMMIE MAYBERRY, “JIM” 73, of Chesapeake, Ohio, passed away and entered Heaven’s gates Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018. At the time of passing he was in the care of Emogene Dolin Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va. Jim was born September 27, 1945, to the late Charles Jimmie Sr. and Opal McMahon Mayberry. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Charles Jimmie III and sister Billie Jo Barbour. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon Roach Mayberry; his son, John Owen Mayberry of Washington, D.C.; his only aunt, Mary Savage of Clearwater, Fla., and brother-in-law Rick Barbour of Willow Wood, Ohio. Jim graduated from SVHS with class of 1962, and attended Rio Grande University. After 35 years in law enforcement, he retired in 2015 from Adult Probation Department of Lawrence County Common Pleas Court. Jim also served 10 years on the Board of Supervisors with Lawrence Soil and Water and three years on the Area Five Board of Directors for the Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018, and one hour prior to the service at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, Ohio. The funeral service will take place 1 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, Ohio, with his nephew, Aaron Reisinger and Brother Larry Casteel officiating.
