Man accused of shooting brother in Cleveland Heights

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — A Cleveland Heights man is accused of shooting his brother.

Scottie Sanders, 31, is charged with felonious assault and is being held in the Cleveland Heights Jail on $250,000 bond, Cleveland Heights Police Chief Annette Mecklenburg said.

The shooting happened about 11:50 p.m. Monday in the 3300 block of Kildare Road, west of South Taylor Road and south of Cedar Road, Mecklenburg said.

The two men argued. The argument escalated into a fight, Mecklenburg said. Sanders left, got a handgun and returned to shoot his 30-year-old brother in the stomach, Mecklenburg said.

Officers found the man with the gunshot wound in the driveway of the home and gave him emergency medical treatment until an ambulance arrived and took him to University Hospitals.

The man is in stable condition at the hospital, Mecklenburg said.
