Good Samaritan Attacked in Mass.
ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) _ A man who tried to help a motorist whose truck had rolled was punched in the jaw by the accident victim, police said.
``I thought maybe he was in shock,″ said John DeFronzo, 33. ``I didn’t know how to take it.″
DeFronzo said he saw the accident on Interstate 495 on Friday and stopped to help the driver, who apparently had lost control of his Chevy pickup truck and rolled over.
DeFronzo said when he initially approached 19-year-old Robert Lebel, the accident victim punched him in the jaw.
Lebel then allegedly warned DeFronzo and other motorists to stay back and then came after DeFronzo with a tire iron.
He then stole the pickup truck of another man who had stopped to help, police said.
Police arrested Lebel after finding him watching television in the living room of a house he allegedly had broken into.
Lebel faces charges that include assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and carjacking.
