Sheriff’s Office names victims in Highway 151 crash
TOWN OF TRENTON -- Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt identified the motorist flown from the scene of a two-vehicle crash Thursday evening in the town of Trenton.
In a press release Schmidt said the condition of Michael Beckwith has improved though his exact condition is not known. The 66-year-old Neosho man sustained life-threatening injuries during the collision on Highway 151 near County Highway C between Beaver Dam and Waupun.
According to a release, Beckwith’s car had been pulled over to the right shoulder of the northbound lanes when he re-entered the roadway in what was said to be an attempt to enter a crossover to the southbound side. The crossover is in place for access to a residence on the divided highway and is not posted to prohibit U-turns.
Two occupants of a northbound pickup were identified as 58-year-old David Neitzke and 58-year-old Renee Neitzke, both of Omro. Neither sustained injuries that required transport. Schmidt said that while there are several residential crossovers on Highway 151 in Dodge County, conducting U-turns in the crossovers can be very dangerous. Extreme care is advised to ensure any traffic with the right-of-way is allowed to safely pass before entering or crossing the highway.
