BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say two people who fell through the ice while fishing on a Belchertown lake as well as two of their rescuers have been taken to the hospital.

Fire officials say two men who were ice fishing shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday fell through the ice on Lake Metacomet about 75 feet from shore.

One of the firefighters who participated in the rescue, as well as a civilian who waded into the water to attempt a rescue, also required medical attention.
