New farmers market slated to start in Spokane Valley

January 23, 2019

Spokane Valley is getting a new Friday night farmers market.

The Spokane Valley Farmers Market is slated to begin June 7 and run through Sept. 13.

The market will feature food trucks, live music, arts and crafts, and produce from local farmers.

The City of Spokane Valley has partnered with the JAKT Foundation to launch the market through an economic and lodging tax grant. JAKT is made up of the initials of Karen and Tom Stebbins of Vision Marketing of Newman Lake and Adam and Jenny Hegsted. Adam Hegsted is the executive chef and owner of the Eat Good Group of restaurants.

The JAKT Foundation is the nonprofit behind the Crave Food and Drink Celebration, which is scheduled to be held for the third time this summer at the CenterPlace Regional Event Center, 2426 N. Discovery Place.

That’s also the site of the new Spokane Valley Farmers Market, which will be held Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m.

The new farmers market is currently accepting vendor applications. Find the application form at https://spokanevalleyfarmersmarket.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/2019-SVFM-Sales-Packet.pdf.

Volunteers are also needed for multiple positions. For more details, visit https://spokanevalleyfarmersmarket.org/ or email katy@svfm.org.
