Extreme temperatures didn’t hold back former Vice President Joe Biden at Pittsburgh’s 37th annual Labor Day parade or discourage Labor Day celebrations around the region.

Thousands turned out for the the parade which is billed as the largest Labor Day parade in the country.

Spectators lined the parade route as temperatures climbed near 90 degrees.

Biden was joined by prominent Pennsylvania Democrats like U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, U.S. Rep. Conor Lamb, Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto and Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald.

Biden and Casey, D-Scranton, plan to make the rounds at union picnics scheduled after the parade.

Casey is running for re-election this November against Republican Lou Barletta.

Over in Westmoreland County, crowds flocked to the midway and carnival rides of the Labor United Celebration at Northmoreland Park. The two-day festival, which has been held since 1980, features a variety of rides, live music and for the first time ever, the Zerbini Family Circus. The festival offered a flea market, arts and crafts and bingo for adults.
