‘Unbroken 2’ to premiere Thursday
Fresh off the premiere of his locally-filmed movie “God Bless the Broken Road,” filmmaker and Mason County native Harold Cronk is planning to return to the area Saturday for the premiere of another one of his films.
“Unbroken 2: Path to Redemption,” the Cronk-directed follow up to the 2014 film written and directed by Angelina Jolie, will premiere at 7 p.m. Thursday at Ludington’s AMC Classic Theater, 3857 W. U.S. 10.
Cronk said he plans on attending a Saturday showing as soon as he wraps up some business in New York City.
“It’s an incredible story about the triumph of the human spirit and Loui’s ability to overcome his demons; from his torture and being a prisoner of war and being lost at sea for 47 days,” Cronk said. “It’s the rest of the story that everyone wanted to see (and) the second half of (Hillenbrand’s) amazing book.
“I’m truly honored that I had the opportunity to be part of telling the story,” he added.
Like its predecessor, “Unbroken 2” is an adaptation of Laura Hillenbrand’s 2010 book “Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption.” It follows the story of U.S. Army officer and Olympic athlete Louis “Louie” Zamperini, who survived being imprisoned as a prisoner of war during World War II.
