Softball | Bloomington Kennedy 2, Century 0
Morgan Erickson pitched a strong game for Rochester Century, but the Panthers couldn’t get their bats going in a 2-0 non-conference softball loss against Bloomington Kennedy at home on Saturday.
Kennedy’s Courtney Kopischke allowed just two hits to the Panthers — one each to Emma Kartheiser and Morgan Bergman — en route to the shutout.
Kennedy scored a run in the top of the fifth on a single to shallow right field, then added another in the seventh off Erickson, a seventh-grader who was sharp throughout her first varsity start. She allowed just four hits and struck out nine batters.
“Morgan did a great job moving the ball around, getting strikeouts with 3-2 counts and keeping them off balance with her changeup,” Century coach Chad Buchmann said. “Being so young, this wes a game she can build on for many years.”
Kopischke kept Century’s batters off balance most of the day.
“It’s not often to see a left-handed pitcher throwing heat like that,” Buchmann said of Kopischke.
Century plays at Stewartville at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
