GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (AP) _ Rookie defenseman Brad Bombardir scored the first two goals of his pro career Friday night to help the Albany River Rats defeat the Adirondack Red Wings, 5-1.
Albany (13-5-4) extended its winning streak to three games. It was the Red Wings’ (12-12-3) second straight loss to Albany.
The River Rats took a 3-0 lead in the first period on goals by Steve Sullivan, Bombardir and Sergei Brylin. Bombardir made it 4-0 at 2:05 of the second period.
Adirondack rookie Kurt Miller scored the Red Wings’ only goal at 10:32 of the second period on the rebound of a shot by defenseman Troy Neumeier.
Reid Simpson scored Abany’s final goal with 1:03 to play in the third period.
