Area NRD contested races decided
The Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District wasn’t the only one in Northeast and North Central Nebraska with contested races to decide Tuesday.
The Lower Niobrara NRD, which is based in Butte, had three contested races for seats on its board of directors.
In the subdistrict 3 race, Linda Hoffman of Bristow defeated Paul Allen, also of Bristow, for the win. She received 1,287 votes compared to Allen’s 884.
Kevin Randa of Verdigre won the race for the subdistrict 4 seat, defeating Bradley Mahon of Niobrara by a total of 1,176 to 897 votes.
And in the race for the NRD’s at-large board seat, Jeffrey Uhlir of Verdigre came out on top with 1,082 votes compared to Shaun Higgins of Naper, who received 999 votes.
In the Upper Elkhorn NRD, which is based in O’Neill, there was one contested race. John Vogel of Atkinson won the subdistrict 2 seat by defeating Forrest Peetz of O’Neill by a total of 2,018 votes to 2,544.
