Puma escapes from shelter in Chile
SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) — A puma captured inside a home in Chile’s capital has now escaped from a shelter and is roaming a popular recreation area.
A woman spotted the big cat in her kitchen on Jan. 29. Animal rescuers then tranquilized the cat and took it to a wildlife shelter.
But Chile’s Agriculture and Livestock Service said Monday that the puma escaped and is now roaming in the Cajon del Maipo. The area is often used by tourists for hiking, picnics and camping.
The Agriculture and Livestock service says it is searching for the animal with help from police to avoid possible attacks on humans.
