UNDATED (AP) — The NBA free agency frenzy is underway. Roughly $750 million in new deals have been hammered out since midnight. Stephen (STEH’-fin) Curry is staying with the champion Golden State Warriors on a five-year, $201 million deal. Blake Griffin has struck a deal to stay with the Clippers on a five-year contract worth about $175 million. Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward is starting his free agency tour in Miami.
POTOMAC, Md. (AP) — David Lingmerth is the leader after two rounds of the PGA’s Quicken Loans National in Potomac, Maryland. The 29-year-old Swede closed with a birdie for a second consecutive 5-under 65 that puts him two strokes ahead of Geoff Ogilvy. Daniel Summerhays is four shots back and one ahead of Arjun Atwal and Sung Kang.
PEABODY, Mass. (AP) — Kirk Triplett and Kenny Perry are co-leaders at the midway mark of the U.S. Senior Open in Massachusetts. Perry grabbed a share of the lead with a 6-under 64 that puts him 11 under through two rounds. Triplett followed Thursday’s Senior Major record-tying 62 with a 67. Doug Garwood is in the mix at minus-9, while Scott Verplank and Bernhard Langer are 8 under.
OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. (AP) — Danielle Kang and Sei Young Kim share the lead through two rounds of the Women’s PGA Championship in Illinois. Both Kim and Kang followed 69s with 5-under 66s for a 7-under total and a one-shot advantage over Brittany Lincicome (LIHN’-sih-kohm) and three others. Defending champion Brooke Henderson is at minus-5, while Lydia Ko and Michelle Wie (wee) are 4 under.
DUESSELDORF, Germany (AP) — The 104th edition of the Tour de France is underway in rainy and slippery conditions. Today’s first stage is an individual time trial along the banks of the Rhine River in downtown Duesseldorf, Germany. It’s the fourth time the Tour has started in Germany and the first since 1987, when riders set out in West Berlin. The three-week Tour concludes in Paris on July 23.
