Mesaba Attendants Vote on Union
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ Ballots were mailed to Mesaba Airlines’ 500 flight attendants Tuesday for a vote on whether they want the Association of Flight Attendants to act as their bargaining representative.
The ballots will be counted Sept. 8.
Minneapolis-based Mesaba operates as a Northwest Airlink affiliate out of Northwest Airlines hubs in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Detroit and Memphis, Tenn. The carrier serves 100 cities in 25 states and Canada.
The AFA is the world’s largest flight attendant union, representing 46,000 flight attendants at 25 airlines.
Two work groups at Mesaba are unionized. The pilots are represented by the Air Line Pilots Association and the mechanics by the Airline Mechanics Professional Fraternal Association.
