Mom Dies From Fire After Baby Born
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) _ Doctors delivered a baby boy from the body of a woman who was fatally injured in a house fire.
The unnamed, full-term baby boy was in critical condition early today at the Johnson City Medical Center.
April Massie, 16, died at the hospital of burns and smoke inhalation after the baby was surgically delivered Friday. Another son, 2-year-old Jessie Massie, was also in critical condition today.
Fire Chief Paul Souder said the blaze probably started because the kitchen stove had been left on.
