February 9, 2019

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. - With mudslide repairs complete, a part of old U.S. 23 along the Big Sandy River in Boyd County (Ky. 757) that’s been closed since December will reopen Friday afternoon.

State highway crews and contractors have finished clearing debris, stabilizing the roadside slope and cleaning ditchlines on Ky. 757 from the 7 to 8 mile markers between Campbell’s Branch and Calgon northeast of U.S. 23. Crews expect to remove barricades between noon and 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, and reopen the road, which serves an average of 700 vehicles per day to local businesses and the Marathon Refinery.

Kentucky Department of Highways District 9 received $66,000 in Rural Secondary emergency funds for the repair project.
