Motorists continue to see lower gas prices in New Jersey

January 5, 2019

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Motorists continue to see lower prices at the pumps in New Jersey.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in the state on Friday was $2.36, which is down 3 cents from last week. Drivers were paying $2.57 a gallon a year ago at this time.

The national average gas price Friday was $2.25, down 4 cents from last week. That’s also lower than the national average from a year ago, when motorists were paying $2.49.

Analysts say the lower pump prices in recent weeks are mostly due to falling crude oil prices. But they also note that production cuts by OPEC nations could mean higher oil and gas prices in the coming weeks.
