David Ashley, 71, Fall River

FALL RIVER — David “Pint” Ashley, age 71, of Fall River passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg.

He was born on April 23, 1948, in Columbus to Marie Kohls and Donald Ashley. He graduated from Fall River High School in 1967 and North Central Technical Institute in Wausau in 1968. He was employed most of his life as a finish carpenter by Veridian Homes and Oelke Construction.

He was married to Diane Voss on Nov. 12, 1983. He was a big Badgers and Packers fan, played slow-pitch softball for many years sponsored by JR’s Bar in Fall River and enjoyed bowling and golfing with his buddies in the area. In his later life, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Fall River.

Survivors include his wife Diane and daughter Megan (Julius) Weisensel of Fall River; two grandchildren, Audra and Jordy Weisensel; two sisters, Susan (Jim Hall) Ashley, Madison, and Karen (Rev. Newton Trimmer) Ashley, Parkville, Maryland; one brother, Mark (Dawn) Ashley, Madison; three sisters-in-law Debbie (Larry) Meyers of Madison, Nancy (Joel) Pitzlin of Juneau and Judy (Robin) Roberts of McFarland and mother-in-law Adeline Voss of Fall River; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Roger Voss. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fall River. The Rev. Tim Gumm will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Fall River Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Jensen Funeral & Cremation, Columbus, and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be made either to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Fall River or Agrace Hospice in Madison.
