September 19, 2018

ERIE, Pa. (AP) — A man has been sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole plus 20 to 40 years after pleading guilty in the murders of his wife and her adult daughter in their northwestern Pennsylvania home earlier this year.

The Erie Times-News reports that 59-year-old Regis Brown pleaded guilty Wednesday in Erie County Court to first- and third-degree murder. Other charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement.

Authorities said Brown tied up 35-year-old Tammy Greenawalt in a rocking chair in his Fairview Township bedroom March 9 and stabbed her.

They said he then bludgeoned his wife, 53-year-old Michele Brown, in the garage when she arrived home later.

Police said a 14-year-old girl was tied up for a time but didn’t appear to have sustained any serious injuries.
