Lawsuit in 1995 Montana rafting death settled
BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — A wrongful death lawsuit filed against a Montana whitewater rafting company has been settled out of court.
The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports that the suit was settled mid-trial on Wednesday for an undisclosed amount.
In 2015, Brian Niedermeyer died on a whitewater rafting trip on the Gallatin River, prompting his wife, Angela Niedermeyer, to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the guiding company, Geyser Whitewater Expeditions.
Brian Niedermeyer was a passenger on a raft operated by Geyser that flipped over on the river.
The suit alleged that the company’s “careless and negligent operation of the rafting trip” was the cause of his death. The company denied it was careless and negligent.
