Watch Cuyahoga River freeze during the polar vortex 2019

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- It’s so cold, the Cuyahoga River froze.

During this polar vortex, Lake Erie is more than 80 percent frozen, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Overnight Wednesday, the river also began to freeze.

You can watch the process -- yes, literally watch water freeze -- in a timelapse from RocktheLake’s live camera. The Music Box Supper Club bridge cam shows boaters when the Norfolk-Southern railroad bridge is up or down.

But it also catches some spectacular weather. For more spectacles of nature, check out Dave Petkiewicz’s gallery of natural ice sculptures.
