IOWA DOCTORS-MARIJUANA — Only about 325 of Iowa’s 7,000 doctors have certified people for the state’s new medical marijuana program, in part because many are uneasy about their role in the system. SENT: 320 words.

WOMAN LOCKED AWAY — A Davenport man whose wife’s intellectually disabled daughter was always locked in a bedroom has been given 10 years in prison.

POND RESCUE — Authorities say police officers rescued a woman who’d fallen through ice on a pond while trying to retrieve her dog.

CEDAR RAPIDS BLAZE — Authorities say a man was injured in a fire that destroyed a detached garage at his home in Cedar Rapids.

BKC--PARADISE JAM

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands — The Paradise Jam tournament concludes Monday, highlighted by the championship game between Missouri and No. 12 Kansas State. The final day of the tournament opens with Kennesaw State facing Eastern Kentucky in the seventh-place game. That’s followed by Old Dominion playing Northern Iowa in the consolation final.
