Abby Huntsman leaving Fox News to join ‘The View’ on ABC

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- ABC News confirmed what had been rumored for awhile: “Fox & Friends Weekend” host Abby Huntsman is leaving Fox News to join “The View.”

When Huntsman, the daughter of U.S. Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman, makes her debut on Sept. 4, she’ll be the second conservative voice on the panel alongside Meghan McCain.

The other hosts are Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, and Joy Behar.

“I couldn’t be more be excited to return to my professional roots at ABC News,” Huntsman said in a press release. “I look forward to adding my own point of view to the most interesting and successful talk show on television today. Joining the women at ‘The View’ really is a dream come true!”

Huntsman, who began her career at ABC working behind the scenes on “Good Morning America” as a teenager, takes over Sara Haines’ seat on “The View.” Haines is leaving the program to co-host the new afternoon edition of “Good Morning America,” dubbed “GMA Day,” with Michael Strahan starting Sept. 4.

“The View” airs weekdays at 11 a.m. on WEWS Channel 5. “GMA Day” will air at 1 p.m., taking over the time slot currently held by “The Chew.”
