ID released, but questions linger about body found in water under 35W Bridge
Authorities have identified the man whose body was recovered nearly two weeks ago from the Mississippi River near downtown Minneapolis but have yet to say how long he had been in the water.
Rodulfo S. Jojola, of Albuquerque, N.M., was pulled from a river spillway midday on Dec. 4 under the Interstate 35W Bridge, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office said. His body’s discovery came one week before his 39th birthday.
What the investigating agency’s have yet to disclose are how Jojola ended up in the water or where he went into the water.
Hennepin County sheriff’s deputies and Minneapolis police responded to the scene just past the St. Anthony Lock and Dam, where first responders located the body.
Jojola recently started working construction-related jobs at great heights and that would send him to Minneapolis and elsewhere for work, according to his online obituary. However, authorities have yet to say whether his job brought him to the Twin Cities.
