CLEVELAND (AP) _ Merlakia Jones hit a 15-foot jumper and Ann Wauters made two free throws for the only points in overtime to give the Cleveland Rockers a 52-48 victory over the Miami Sol on Wednesday.

Cleveland extended its league-record home winning streak to 16 games. The Los Angeles Sparks also have won 16 straight at home. They defeated Sacramento 80-78 Wednesday.

The Rockers’ last home loss also was to Houston on July 20, 2000.

Cleveland (18-5) has won seven straight games overall and snapped a seven-game winning streak by the Sol (13-10).

Jones made a 14-foot jumper along the baseline to put Cleveland ahead 50-48 with 2:30 left in overtime. Wauters converted two free throws with 15.7 seconds left.

Miami missed all seven of its shots from the field in overtime.

Sandy Brondello’s 15-foot jumper gave Miami its largest lead, 46-41, with 4:49 left in regulation.

Cleveland tied it as Jones put back a missed shot, followed a moment later by a 3-pointer by Helen Darling from the left corner with 1:42 left.

Elena Baranova, who led Miami with 14 points, scored on an off-balance 8-footer to give Miami a 48-46 advantage. Rushia Brown, whose 15 points led the Rockers, countered for Cleveland with a layup 19 seconds later to tie it at 48.

Jones missed a 12-footer with three seconds left in regulation.

Baranova scored 12 points in the first half to help Miami lead at halftime 30-29.

Before the game, the Rockers put forward Eva Nemcova on the injured list with inflammation of her left knee. The Rockers activated forward-center Chasity Melvin, who had missed five games with a right eye orbital wall fracture.
