Stewartville man arrested in alleged stolen car
A Stewartville man was arrested Monday afternoon after police allegedly caught him behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle.
Michael Kochen, 37, could face charges of felony fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, felony possession of stolen property and gross misdemeanor driving while under the influence, according to Olmsted County Sheriff’s Capt. Scott Behrns.
A deputy on patrol about 3 p.m. in the 3000 block of Marion Road spotted a 2007 Dodge Caravan, which the deputy believed to be stolen. A review of the license plate determined the vehicle was stolen in Rochester on Nov. 7, Behrns said.
The deputy followed the vehicle, waiting for additional officers. Minnesota State Patrol assisted and the vehicle was stopped on U.S. Highway 14 near Tee Time Road Southeast.
Kocken’s passenger, 36-year-old Antuan Williams, of Rochester, also was arrested. Deputies found a bag containing about 0.72 grams of suspected methamphetamine near where Williams had been sitting in the car, Behrns said.
