Havasu golf 11 strokes back at home
The Lake Havasu boys golf team is only 11 shots out from the lead after day one of the Lake Havasu Invite concluded at Lake Havasu Golf Club on Friday.
Junior Daniel Dion shot a 14-over-par 85 over 18-holes and sits in seventh place out of 32 golfers to lead the Knights.
Behind Dion is junior Cody Ayers who shot a 92 and sits in 11th place just two strokes behind Alex Smith of Laveen Village Betty Fairfax.
Senior Noah Elias is two strokes behind Ayers after shooting 93, sophomore Trent Dreisbach shot a 94 and sophomore Gavin Lintz shot a 95 to all end the day within a stroke of each other.
All five of Havasu’s golfers sit in the top-15 at the end of the first day.
“We’re in a good position,” Lake Havasu Mike Washington said. “We just need to execute the game plan and hope for the best.”
Day two of the 36-hole tournament kicks off today at 8 a.m. at Lake Havasu Golf Club.
