Eversource plans low flyovers to check lines for storm damage

Eversource Energy has notified area police departments that there will be aerial inspections taking place throughout the state beginning Thursday.

The purpose of these flyovers will be to survey transmission and distribution Lines for post storm review/damage assessment.

Flights will occur from Thursday through Jan. 30, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Aircraft being utilized are two Bell 206 helicopters.

The low-flying helicopters will do a survey of high-voltage power lines throughout the state.

Eversource is looking for any damage that might have been done to the lines from recent ice, wind and rain storms which could potentially threaten service.
