Frost Does It All for Tewksbury

Riley Frost went the distance on the mound and singled and scored what proved to be the winning run in the fifth inning while leading Tewksbury to a 2-1 victory over Chelmsford in a Merrimack Valley Conference Division 2 baseball game.


TEWKSBURY 2, CHELMSFORD 1. In the bottom of the first inning, Kyle Zervas walked and scored Tewksbury’s first run on Matt Perron’s triple.

The Redmen increased their lead to 2-0 in the fifth as Frost singled and came around to score on a wild pitch.

Chelmsford scored its run in the top of sixth inning.

Tewksbury is 4-9 overall and 4-8 in the MVC.

PELHAM 10, KEARSARGE 8. Reagan Brunelle led the way on offense with 2 hits, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored as Pelham outlasted Kearsarge in a New Hampshire Division 2 game.

Colby Walsh (1 run, 2 RBI) and Zach Jones (2 runs, 1 RBI) chipped in with 2 hits each for the Pythons (4-7).

Reliever Patrick Millstone pitched 4 innings, allowing only 2 hits, 3 runs and striking out 2, while earning the win on the mound.

ALVIRNE 9, MANCHESTER CENTRAL 5. Grady Hudson blasted a 3-run home run in the sixth inning that helped lift Alvirne past Manchester Central in a New Hampshire Division 1 game.

Alvirne scored 5 runs in the sixth while rallying for the victory.

Jake Hobart (1 RBI) and Evan Beals had 2 hits each, while Kyle Boulanger chipped in with a 2-run single.

Reliever Tyler Lizotte was the winning pitcher.

GROTON-DUNSTABLE 2, WACHUSETT 0. Junior right-hander Brendan Ferrari pitched and hit Groton-Dunstable past Wachusett Regional in a Midland-Wachusett League cross-over game.

On the mound, Ferrari tossed a 4-hit shutout with 8 strikeouts. Ferrari chipped in offensively with a double and 1 run scored.

Doug Tompkins singled and scored G-D’s first run on a base hit to right field by Joe O’Malley in the fifth inning.

In the sixth, Ferrari reached on an error and scored an insurance run.

Tompkins had 2 hits with a double for G-D (9-4).


CENTRAL CATHOLIC 3, LOWELL 1. Kevin Stevenson was a force at the net, finishing with 20 kills and 4 blocks, as Central Catholic defeated Lowell in a Merrimack Valley Conference boys volleyball match.

Alex Nadeau (36 digs) spearheaded the defense as Central Catholic topped Lowell, 26-24, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21, in a hard-fought match.

Jack Roderick chipped in with 34 assists for Central Catholic (15-2).

Senior captain Poe Reh led the way for Lowell with 24 kills.

Chrisian Chau added 20 kills and 9 blocks for the Red Raiders (11-4).

Bruce Xayvethy notched 6 kills and 4 blocks, while setter Bu Reh dished out 47 assists.

Damian Ortiz, Aaron Lepoer and Tevin Lout played well for Lowell.


ALVIRNE 4, MANCHESTER CENTRAL 2. Alicia Salvalzo went 4-for-4 at the plate with 1 RBI for Alvirne.

Megan Jacques had 2 hits with 1 RBI for the Broncos.

Kiara Chase pitched well.

DRACUT 5, BILLERICA 4. Senior Ryley White notched 10 strikeouts, including the 900th strikeout of his four-year varsity career, as Dracut edged Billerica in a Merrimack Valley Conference game that was played on Thursday.

Senior Sabrina Morse paced Dracut’s offense with 3 hits.

Sophomore Amy Lupien chipped in offensively with 2 hits and 2 RBI, while freshmen Morgan Keefe smacked 2 hits.

Senior Jill Gomes and junior Nadia Saari had 1 hit each.

Dracut overcame a 4 run deficit by scoring 5 runs in the third inning.

GREATER LOWELL TECH 5, LOWELL CATHOLIC 0. Jessica MacFadgen had 5 strikeouts while pitching Greater Lowell past Lowell Catholic in a non-league game that was played on Thursday. MacFadgen chipped in offensively with 1 RBI.

Jess Lawler led the way on offense with 2 RBI.

Brianna Hernandez knocked in 1 run, while Madison Cormier (catcher), Hecyoly Rivera (second base) and Kaylee Wiroll (center field) had strong defensive games for the Gryphons (6-4).

BURLINGTON 9, WILMINGTON 0. Burlington blanked Wilmington in a Middlesex League game that was played on Wednesday.

Christina Clark notched 13 strikeouts while earning the win in the circle.

Chloe McGonagle and Fran Rubino each belted a 2-run home run for Burlington (10-2).

Jenna Sweeney smacked a triple for Wilmington.

SHAWSHEEN TECH 12, BEDFORD 11. Shawsheen Tech scored a combined 10 runs in the fifth and sixth innings while outlasting Bedford in a non-league game that was played on Thursday.

Becca Smith, Kayla Mirisola and Sandra Watne had 2 hits apiece for the Rams (5-8).

Bella Richard, Grace Clark and Marissa Brangiforte had run-scoring hits.

Taylor Sacco had three catches and threw a runner out at home plate in the third inning while leading the way on defense.

Kayla Mirisola (4 strikeouts) was the winning pitcher.

WILMINGTON 6, WAKEFIELD 1. Ally Moran tossed a 2-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Wilmington beat Wakefield in a Middlesex League game that was played on Thursday.

Jenna Sweeney had a hit and scored 2 runs for Wilmington.

Ryan Bailey drove in a run, while Tori Gemellaro singled for her first varsity hit.

Ashley Crawford had a key hit, and Chase Anderson played well defensively.
