Vehicle ends up in pond

Abbi Cook, 21, Connellsville, was taken to Somerset Hospital on New Year’s Day for injuries obtained in an accident on Summit View Court at Summit Drive in Jefferson Township, according to state police.

The vehicle’s driver failed to make a turn at the intersection, traveled west across both lanes and went up a small embankment and into a pond along the edge of the roadway, state police said. The vehicle stopped about 40 feet from the road submerged about 4 feet deep in the water, police said.

Three females were seen fleeing the vehicle on foot. Cook, the alleged driver, returned to the accident scene and was transported by Somerset ambulance to the hospital.

Heating oil taken

Someone stole heating oil from Mt. Zion Church in Jefferson Township between Dec. 30 and Jan. 2, according to state police.

Tires slashed

Jennifer Irene Alwine, Boswell, drove from her residence along Stonycreek Street and noticed her back tires were low, state police said. Upon filling them with air, a mechanic told her they had been slashed, police said. Police said the crime occurred Thursday or Friday.

Firearm taken

A black Stag Arms AR-15 was stolen from a residence along Allegheny Street in Boswell Borough Dec. 31, according to state police.

The victim was listed as Joseph Kerch.

Single-vehicle crash

Hannah Taylor, 25, Somerset, was driving south on Somerset Pike north of Johnson Lane in Jenner Township on Thursday when her vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole, traveled into a ditch and overturned, according to state police.

She sustained minor injuries, police said. She was taken by a Boswell ambulance to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown.

Stone walls struck

A 16-year-old Friedens female sustained minor injuries when the vehicle she was driving south on Gilmour Road in Somerset Township traveled off the road and struck two stone walls, state police said.

The vehicle first traveled off the right side of the road and struck a stone wall at 787 Gilmour Road. The vehicle then traveled across both lanes and through a yard where it hit a stone wall at 802 Gilmour Road. The juvenile then drove through the yard and continued south on Gilmour Road, police said.

Church burglarized

State police are investigating a burglary of Horner Lutheran Church in Quemahoning Township between Dec. 29 and Sunday.

Someone broke into the church through the back door and stole various items, police said.
