MIAMI (AP) _ Quincey Gamble scored 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead Florida International University to an 81-70 win over Southeastern Louisiana in a Trans America Athletic Conference game Thursday.

Shooting 50 percent from the field in the first half, Florida International (3-8, 1-0) raced to a 54-31 lead at the break.

But the roles reversed in the second half. Thanks to Eric Myles’ game-high 24 points and cold shooting by Florida International, Southeastern Louisiana (2-9, 0-1) closed to within six points, at 73-67 with 3:00 remaining.

Florida International mustered just seven field goals in 34 second-half attempts (.206). But the last of those, a driving layup by Gene Derkack with 1:10 remaining, gave the Golden Panthers a 75-67 lead to seal the victory.

Derkack contributed a total of 18 points and Marcus Carreno added 12 for Florida International.

For Southeastern Louisiana, Troy Green scored 17 points and Noble Evans had 10.

Florida International travels to Shreveport, La. on Saturday for another conference game against Centenary (3-8, 0-1). Meanwhile, Southeastern Louisiana returns home for a conference game against Florida Atlantic (5-5, 1-0).
