Rodney Poston seeks write-in votes to retain seat on Florence District 3 school board
FLORENCE, S.C. – Rodney Poston will be running to keep his seat after all.
Poston, who currently holds Seat 2 on the Florence School District 3 Board of Trustees, said Friday that he had missed the deadline to file to run for the seat he has held since 2017. Poston said he had gone to the school district offices to file a few days before Aug. 1, the date that filing started, and had been told to come back after Aug. 1.
Poston added that he planned to file on Friday, Aug. 17; however, filing closed at Noon on Wed. Aug. 15, so he must conduct a write-in campaign to retain his seat.
As of Friday, Poston is the only known write-in candidate for the seat the represents the northern portion of District 3.
Florence School District 3 includes the southern portion of Florence County and is centered in Lake City.
The general election is scheduled for Nov. 6.
