Police identify suspects in athletic field sign theft
BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) — Police in Maine have identified suspects who they say stole a sign from an athletic field.
The Portland Press Herald reports the “Tiger Pride” sign at Waterhouse Field in Biddeford was stolen sometime last Thursday. Police say they have identified suspects in the case but declined to release any other information because of the ongoing investigation.
Biddeford Schools officials say the letters from the sign that were recovered are unusable. They say the sign cost over $1,000.
Administrators have ordered a new sign ahead of an opening celebration scheduled for Sept. 7. Waterhouse Field recently underwent an 18-month renovation that included a new turf field and upgraded bleachers.
