Tuesday was a good night to be an incumbent candidate in North Central Massachusetts.

Jon Zlotnik, D-Gardner, won another two-year term in state office representing the 2nd Worcester District. He was first elected to state office in 2012, and on Tuesday beat Gardner City Councilor Edward Gravel.

North Worcester County Register Kathleen Reynolds Daigneault, a Democrat, was elected to her third term in office. She was the only candidate on the ballot for a six-year term as register, but faced a write-in challenger, Patti Buckley Malcolmson, who lost to Daigneault in the September Democratic primary elections.

Among the other incumbents who cinched another term in office Tuesday were Fitchburg Rep. Stephan Hay, Leominster Rep. Natalie Higgins and state Sen. Dean Tran.
