Iron Ridge Department hosts firefighters event

IRON RIDGE -- The Iron Ridge Fire Department is hosting the 121st Dodge County Firefighters Association Softball Tournament while also celebrating 130 years of service to their community.

The Iron Ridge Fire Department has a fun-filled weekend in store for residents and visitors alike.

A softball tournament is scheduled for Friday through Sunday. Anyone wishing to enter a team can call Jason Keller 920-960-2806.

From 6-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 2-6 p.m. Sunday visitors can play bingo.

Others can enjoy Happy Hour in the Big Top from 8-9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Also the “Booze Bar” will be open through Sunday.

There will be free busing on Friday and Saturday nights through the Designated Drivers program, which is cosponsored by the Iron Ridge Fire Department and Ott Schweitzer Distributing.

Voss Marshland Shows will provide amusement rides Friday through Sunday with carnival wristband day slated for 1-4 p.m. Saturday.

The Iron Ridge Fire Department will host its fish fry from 4:30-8:30 p.m. Friday.

Bill McCollum, host of the WXRO Barn Show, will be broadcasting live from Iron Ridge Fireman’s Park Live polka music will be performed from 5:30-10:30 p.m. by the Ralph Thull Band.

Madison County will play country music when they take to the PS Seasonings Stage from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.

A volleyball tournament begins at 10 a.m. Saturday. Anyone wishing to enter a team may call Tom Hazelberg at 920-625-3297. A bean bag tournament starts at 2 p.m. Those wishing to participate can call Keller at 920-960-2806.

Happy Hour in the Big Top begins at 8 p.m.-9:30 p.m. with Boogie and The Yo-Yo’z taking the PS Seasoning Stage at 9 p.m.-1 a.m.

Kicking off Sunday will be the parade which promises to have something for everyone. The parade begins at 11 a.m. Also beginning at 11 a.m. is the chicken dinner which continues until the chicken is gone.

Following lunch in the park will be a horseshoe tournament at 1:30 p.m. Those looking to participate can call 920-644-2747.

At the same time, the Hayes Boys Orchestra will play polka favorites beginning at 1:30-5:30 p.m. For those who have a taste for rock, they can check out Almost Famous beginning at 2-6:30 p.m. on the PS Seasoning Stage.

The fire departments will stir their hoses for the water fights at 2 p.m. near the Iron Ridge Community Center.

The raffle drawing will take place at 6 p.m.
