RI pedestrian run over after dispute with driver

December 29, 2013

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) — Pawtucket police say a pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being run over by a car during a dispute with the driver.

Authorities say the man who was run over early Sunday morning is hospitalized in critical condition. Police didn’t release the names of the pedestrian and driver.

Officials say the pedestrian and driver got into an argument at about 2:30 a.m., and the pedestrian jumped on the car. Police say the driver sped away with the pedestrian still on the car, and the pedestrian fell off and was run over.

Authorities say the man driving the car fled but was caught in Attleboro, Mass. He is being held at the Attleboro police station and hasn’t been charged.

Police say they’re still investigating.
