Police decline criminal charges against Tempe councilman
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Phoenix police say there is insufficient information to pursue criminal charges against Tempe City Councilman Kolby Granville who was suspected of misconduct.
Granville was fired from the Tempe Preparatory Academy in December following allegations from three women.
Two of the former students claimed the 43-year-old teacher had provided them with alcohol while they were underage, and the third claimed he made unwanted sexual advances toward her.
Tempe authorities had requested Phoenix police to investigate the matter in January to ensure an unbiased process.
City officials say the police report will be used in determining how to proceed with a separate council code of conduct investigation.
Granville declined to comment on the results of the investigation. He has denied any wrongdoing.
