Troopers searching for driver in hit-and-run crash that injured Rocky Mount man
Authorities in Wayne County are searching for a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian Tuesday evening.
Highway Patrol troopers said James Allen Morgan, 38, of Rocky Mount was walking in the intersection of Pikeville Princeton Road and Gurley Dairy Road at about 6:35 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle traveling west on Pikeville Princeton Road.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, but witnesses told troopers it was a gold Volkswagen Jetta with heavy damage to the windshield and hood. The car was last seen traveling west on Pikeville Princeton Road, towards Johnston County.
Troopers said Morgan was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital and was later airlifted to Viadent Medical Center. The extent of his injuries was unknown.
Authorities on Wednesday said the car involved in the crash had been located, but no charges had been filed.
