Philip Arthur Hitchcock was born on Jan. 2, 1933, to Harry and Ruth (Brattz) Hitchcock in Park Rapids, Minn. He was raised in Nevis with seven siblings; he attended country school until the sixth grade and then Nevis High School.

Phil entered the U.S. Navy on Sept. 7, 1950, in Minneapolis. He served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged on Dec. 3, 1953.

When Beverly passed in 2011, Phil sold their home in Webster and moved back to Pine Island permanently. Phil was very active at their church in Webster; he was a member of the Pine Island Legion and of Saint Paul Lutheran Church.

Phil enjoyed flirting with the ladies, cutting wood, hunting with family, bowling, being outdoors, snowmobiling, enjoying life, and especially spending time with his friends and family.
